Simple Installation

In the machining industry, touch probes play a crucial role in accurately assessing workpieces. They rely on tactile measurement techniques to precisely document various aspects of workpieces. This includes capturing fundamental dimensions such as length, width, and height. Additionally, touch probes are adept at determining form elements like straightness, which gauges how perfectly straight a surface or edge is; flatness, measuring the evenness of a planar surface; roundness, evaluating the circularity of an object; and cylindricity, which assesses how closely a cylindrical shape adheres to the ideal form.
Position elements are also within the touch probe’s scope. It can measure parallelism, indicating how parallel two surfaces or axes are; squareness, determining the perpendicularity between features; the angle of inclination, which defines the slant or tilt of a part; and symmetry, evaluating the balance of a workpiece around a central axis or plane.
The process of contact measurement is quite straightforward yet highly precise. A small ruby ball, attached to the probe, makes contact with the workpiece. This contact is made with a carefully predefined force, ensuring consistent and accurate readings. When the stylus connected to the ruby ball is deflected during this contact, a remarkable internal mechanism within the touch probe is activated.
Inside the probe, there’s an innovative, wear – free optoelectronic system. As the stylus moves, a precision pin is displaced into a light barrier. This simple yet ingenious interaction generates a switching signal. This signal serves as the trigger for recording the measured value, allowing for highly accurate documentation of the workpiece’s characteristics.
When stacked against numerous other touch probes in the market, our touch probe, equipped with a multidirectional optoelectronic measuring mechanism, stands out prominently. A key differentiator is that it doesn’t yield varying measuring results, regardless of the direction from which it probes the workpiece.
The moment the measuring insert makes contact with the workpiece, an internal process is set in motion. Inside the probe, a miniature light barrier gets shaded. This non – contact switching principle isn’t just innovative; it’s also wear – free. As a result, it enables a remarkably higher measuring speed compared to similar probes on the market.

This unwavering commitment has allowed us to create touch probes that offer consistent, reliable, and high – speed measurements across all applications.
A touch probe featuring a bidirectional measuring mechanism exhibits distinct characteristics. It can be deflected either along the Z – axis or within a structurally pre – defined X/Y plane simply by adjusting the orientation of the spindle. This unique design is particularly advantageous when it comes to dealing with the coolant film on the workpiece.
Unlike other probes, the bidirectional measuring mechanism effectively prevents the generation of a premature switching signal upon contact with the coolant film. This crucial feature enables the touch probe to achieve impressive performance metrics. It can operate at measuring speeds of up to 5 m/min, reach accelerations of up to 5 g, and maintain a repeatability of less than 1 µm. These capabilities set it apart in the realm of touch probes, offering enhanced precision and efficiency in measurement processes.
Qidu touch probes are primarily utilized for in-process measurement of workpieces during the production of highly machined precision components. These touch probes are not only fast but also highly reliable. They are capable of performing accurate measurements directly on the workpiece while it remains in its original clamping position within the machine room.
This capability brings about entirely new opportunities in various fields. It has a significant impact on general mechanical engineering, tool and mould making, as well as series production. Moreover, they are suitable for workpiece and tool measurement tasks in turning, grinding, and milling centres, and can handle special measurement assignments with ease.
The concept of in-process measurement is a key advantage. It implies that the workpiece does not need to be unclamped for measurement using the touch probe. Consequently, if any rework is necessary, it can be carried out without the need to remove the workpiece from its clamping setup, saving time and effort while maintaining precision and quality throughout the production process.
